Privacy Policy

Studyline ("we", "us") is a website at www.studyline.app where students record study sessions, follow friends and compare progress. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account details. Your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your name and profile photo from Google. We do not receive your Google password or access your Gmail, Drive or other Google data.
Profile details you add. Display name, profile photo, country, school, and weekly study goal.
Study sessions. Subject, start time, length, focus rating, study method and technique, class name, study spot, notes, who you studied with, and an optional photo of your work.
Timer proof. While the timer runs, we record when the Studyline page is hidden or visible and whether you answered check-ins. We do not see what other tabs or apps you use, only that Studyline was not on screen.
Social activity. Who you follow, kudos, comments, clubs you join, and challenges you enter.
Private items. Exams and study plans, and private notes on sessions. Only you can see these.
School verification. If you verify your school, the school email address you enter and which school it belongs to.

How we use it

To run Studyline: sign you in, save your sessions, show your feed, stats, leaderboards, badges and recaps.
To show your activity to other people, based on the visibility you choose for each session.
To send sign-in links and school verification emails.
To keep the service working and secure.

We do not sell your information, and we do not show ads.

Who can see what

Everyone signed in can see your name, profile photo, school, country, badges, and sessions you mark "Everyone".
Followers only sessions are shown in the app only to people who follow you. Their study time still counts toward leaderboards, without the title, notes or photo.
Only me sessions, private notes, exams and study plans are visible only to you and never count toward leaderboards.
Your school email address is never shown to other users. Only the school name and a verified badge are.
Photos you attach to sessions or use as your profile photo are stored at web addresses that anyone with the link could open.

Services we use

We use trusted providers to run Studyline: Supabase (accounts, database and photo storage), Vercel (website hosting),Resend (sending emails), and Google (if you choose Google sign-in). They process data only to provide these services to us. We check school email domains against a public list of universities.

Your choices

Edit or delete any session, change who can see it, and remove your profile photo at any time.
Choose "Only me" for sessions you want to keep private.
To delete your account and all your data, email us at support@studyline.app from the address you signed up with. We'll delete it within 30 days.

Age

Studyline is for people 13 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security and retention

We use access rules so each person can only change their own data, and private items are readable only by their owner. We keep your data while your account exists and delete it when you ask us to delete your account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes will be announced in the app.
